Frequently asked questions

This 1966 Toyota FJ Cruiser is 16+ years old, which moves it into project / collectible / hand-me-down territory. Pricing in this band has more to do with condition and rarity than age. Inspect for rust, frame integrity, and electrical wear — none of which the 1966 fuel-economy spec sheet will warn you about.

This listing falls in the typical mileage band for a 1966 Toyota FJ Cruiser (around 15-20k km/year). At average usage, expect normal-wear consumables to need attention — brakes, tires, fluids — but no major-component surprises if the service interval has been followed.

Ubaté, Cundinamarca is a mid-sized Colombia market for coupes. You'll usually find a handful of comparable Toyota FJ Cruiser listings — meaning price discipline matters but buyer reach is wider than a major hub. Photograph the FJ Cruiser in daylight and price within 3-5% of comparable active listings.

For this diesel Toyota FJ Cruiser, focus on DPF (diesel particulate filter) condition and any history of regen-cycle issues — short-trip diesels often clog DPFs early. Also check EGR cleanliness, turbocharger play, and injector codes via OBD-II. Diesel auxiliary equipment (glow plugs, fuel filter) wears on a schedule independent of the engine.

Colombia requires SOAT (or its local equivalent) — basic third-party liability included with annual registration. For a premium-tier Toyota FJ Cruiser, full-coverage private insurance on top usually runs 3-7% of the vehicle's market value per year. Quote with two or three carriers before listing day; rates vary widely by Cundinamarca.

Diesel fuel in Colombia typically runs near or just under gasoline. This FJ Cruiser's real advantage is fuel economy on long highway runs — for short-trip city use, a diesel's break-even versus a gasoline equivalent is many years out.

This is a private-seller listing. For a premium-tier purchase like this Toyota FJ Cruiser, the buyer usually pre-arranges financing with their own bank or credit union — get pre-approval before contacting the seller. The seller will typically wait for funds to clear before signing over the title.

In Cundinamarca, Colombia, you'll need the tarjeta de propiedad, the current SOAT certificate, technical-mechanical inspection (revisión técnico-mecánica) for vehicles older than the threshold, the contrato de compraventa, and the seller's cédula. The transit secretariat in Ubaté processes the transfer.

A 16+ year-old Toyota FJ Cruiser is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.
