Frequently asked questions

This 1978 Chevrolet Corvette is 16+ years old, which moves it into project / collectible / hand-me-down territory. Pricing in this band has more to do with condition and rarity than age. Inspect for rust, frame integrity, and electrical wear — none of which the 1978 fuel-economy spec sheet will warn you about.

This listing is below the typical mileage band for a 1978 Chevrolet — most Corvettes of this age show closer to 15-20k km/year. Low mileage is a price-supporting attribute but verify the odometer hasn't been rolled back (check service records and inspection-station logs in Germany).

Potsdam, Brandenburg is a smaller market — comparable Chevrolet Corvette listings are scarce, so this coupe can carry a small premium for buyers who can't find local alternatives. Be transparent about condition; buyers who travel for a listing typically expect what they see in the photos.

Insurance in Germany is a private-carrier market. For a micro-tier Chevrolet Corvette in Brandenburg, expect 4-8% of the market value per year for full coverage. The biggest cost-driver is the city — Potsdam rates can be meaningfully higher than rural Brandenburg for the same Chevrolet.

This is a private-seller listing. For a micro-tier Chevrolet Corvette, most private-sale buyers in Germany pay cash or arrange a personal loan with their own bank — the private seller is not set up to handle financing paperwork on the buyer's behalf. Funds typically transfer by cashier's check or wire on handoff day.

A 16+ year-old Chevrolet Corvette is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.

If the seller still owes a bank or finance company against this Chevrolet Corvette, the title has a lien recorded. Do NOT hand over funds before the lien is released. Standard practice in Germany: buyer's bank pays the lender directly for the loan balance and pays the seller for the remainder, with the lender's release letter arriving alongside the new title. Verify the lien status through whatever public registry Germany uses (DMV / DETRAN / Registro Civil / etc.) before agreeing to a purchase price.
