Description

We bought it four months ago through a trusted contact of a work colleague. ITV until the end of July 2024, new filters, oil has been changed + a warranty on the engine and gearbox. The car has about 350,000 km, was built in 2005 and in the four months we have used it we have had no problems with the car. You can climb every slope here on the island at least in second gear, sometimes even in third gear (no cheap rental car has ever managed that 😄). Please only PN if seriously interested and only with the following language skills (a little is enough): German/English/Polish/Russian We do not speak Spanish

Frequently asked questions

This 2005 Toyota Avensis is 16+ years old, which moves it into project / collectible / hand-me-down territory. Pricing in this band has more to do with condition and rarity than age. Inspect for rust, frame integrity, and electrical wear — none of which the 2005 fuel-economy spec sheet will warn you about.

This listing falls in the typical mileage band for a 2005 Toyota Avensis (around 15-20k km/year). At average usage, expect normal-wear consumables to need attention — brakes, tires, fluids — but no major-component surprises if the service interval has been followed.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife has one of the deeper Spain markets for sedans. Comparable Toyota Avensis listings here usually number in the dozens, so buyers can be picky. Price competitively, photograph thoroughly, and respond to messages within a few hours — listings that don't get fast replies fall out of saved-search results in this market.

For this diesel Toyota Avensis, focus on DPF (diesel particulate filter) condition and any history of regen-cycle issues — short-trip diesels often clog DPFs early. Also check EGR cleanliness, turbocharger play, and injector codes via OBD-II. Diesel auxiliary equipment (glow plugs, fuel filter) wears on a schedule independent of the engine.

Insurance in Spain is a private-carrier market. For a entry-tier Toyota Avensis in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, expect 4-8% of the market value per year for full coverage. The biggest cost-driver is the city — Santa Cruz de Tenerife rates can be meaningfully higher than rural Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the same Toyota.

Diesel fuel in Spain typically runs near or just under gasoline. This Avensis's real advantage is fuel economy on long highway runs — for short-trip city use, a diesel's break-even versus a gasoline equivalent is many years out.

This is a private-seller listing. For a entry-tier Toyota Avensis, most private-sale buyers in Spain pay cash or arrange a personal loan with their own bank — the private seller is not set up to handle financing paperwork on the buyer's behalf. Funds typically transfer by cashier's check or wire on handoff day.

In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, you'll need the local title-equivalent paperwork, the seller's ID, and proof of any annual road-tax or circulation-permit payment. Verify the exact requirements with Santa Cruz de Tenerife's transit authority before listing day — they vary by province / state.

This is a private-seller listing — an individual selling their own Toyota Avensis, not a business. Treat it like any other person-to-person purchase: meet in a safe public location (a police-station parking lot is the gold standard), verify the seller's ID against the title before any money changes hands, and never wire funds before seeing the vehicle in person.

A 16+ year-old Toyota Avensis is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.

On an entry-tier listing, the seller's floor is usually within a few hundred dollars of asking. Lead with a fair offer — lowball offers on $500-3,000 listings get ignored or blocked. If the listing has been up more than 2-3 weeks, point that out and ask whether they'd take a quick-decision price.

If the seller still owes a bank or finance company against this Toyota Avensis, the title has a lien recorded. Do NOT hand over funds before the lien is released. Standard practice in Spain: buyer's bank pays the lender directly for the loan balance and pays the seller for the remainder, with the lender's release letter arriving alongside the new title. Verify the lien status through whatever public registry Spain uses (DMV / DETRAN / Registro Civil / etc.) before agreeing to a purchase price.
