Frequently asked questions

This 2010 Ford Focus is 16+ years old, which moves it into project / collectible / hand-me-down territory. Pricing in this band has more to do with condition and rarity than age. Inspect for rust, frame integrity, and electrical wear — none of which the 2010 fuel-economy spec sheet will warn you about.

This listing is below the typical mileage band for a 2010 Ford — most Focuss of this age show closer to 15-20k km/year. Low mileage is a price-supporting attribute but verify the odometer hasn't been rolled back (check service records and inspection-station logs in Mexico).

Benito Juarez, Mexico City has one of the deeper Mexico markets for sedans. Comparable Ford Focus listings here usually number in the dozens, so buyers can be picky. Price competitively, photograph thoroughly, and respond to messages within a few hours — listings that don't get fast replies fall out of saved-search results in this market.

Insurance in Mexico is a private-carrier market. For a premium-tier Ford Focus in Mexico City, expect 4-8% of the market value per year for full coverage. The biggest cost-driver is the city — Benito Juarez rates can be meaningfully higher than rural Mexico City for the same Ford.

In Mexico City, Mexico, you'll need the factura (original sales invoice), the most recent tenencia / refrendo receipt, the predial-update letter for the seller's address, a clean credit-bureau check, and the seller's ID. Tenencia transfers vary by state — Mexico City and CDMX-suburbs charge differently.

A 16+ year-old Ford Focus is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.

If the seller still owes a bank or finance company against this Ford Focus, the title has a lien recorded. Do NOT hand over funds before the lien is released. Standard practice in Mexico: buyer's bank pays the lender directly for the loan balance and pays the seller for the remainder, with the lender's release letter arriving alongside the new title. Verify the lien status through whatever public registry Mexico uses (DMV / DETRAN / Registro Civil / etc.) before agreeing to a purchase price.
