Jeep Cherokee • 1989 • 120,000 km • $ 3700 USD

This 1989 Jeep Cherokee is 16+ years old, which moves it into project / collectible / hand-me-down territory. Pricing in this band has more to do with condition and rarity than age. Inspect for rust, frame integrity, and electrical wear — none of which the 1989 fuel-economy spec sheet will warn you about.

This listing is below the typical mileage band for a 1989 Jeep — most Cherokees of this age show closer to 15-20k km/year. Low mileage is a price-supporting attribute but verify the odometer hasn't been rolled back (check service records and inspection-station logs in Peru).

Lima, Lima is a mid-sized Peru market for suvs. You'll usually find a handful of comparable Jeep Cherokee listings — meaning price discipline matters but buyer reach is wider than a major hub. Photograph the Cherokee in daylight and price within 3-5% of comparable active listings.

For an older Jeep Cherokee like this one, prioritize: timing belt/chain interval (ask for the last replacement receipt), suspension bushings and shocks, brake-fluid condition, transmission service history, and rust on the rocker panels and subframe. A pre-purchase inspection at an independent shop pays for itself many times over at this age.

Peru requires SOAT (or its local equivalent) — basic third-party liability included with annual registration. For a mid-tier Jeep Cherokee, full-coverage private insurance on top usually runs 3-7% of the vehicle's market value per year. Quote with two or three carriers before listing day; rates vary widely by Lima.

Gasoline pricing in Peru is moderate. For this Cherokee, expect monthly fuel cost to scale roughly with kilometers driven and the manufacturer-rated economy minus 10-15% for real-world conditions.

This is a private-seller listing. For a mid-tier purchase like this Jeep Cherokee, the buyer usually pre-arranges financing with their own bank or credit union — get pre-approval before contacting the seller. The seller will typically wait for funds to clear before signing over the title.

In Lima, Peru, you'll need the tarjeta de propiedad, the current SOAT certificate, technical-mechanical inspection (revisión técnico-mecánica) for vehicles older than the threshold, the contrato de compraventa, and the seller's cédula. The transit secretariat in Lima processes the transfer.

This is a private-seller listing — an individual selling their own Jeep Cherokee, not a business. Treat it like any other person-to-person purchase: meet in a safe public location (a police-station parking lot is the gold standard), verify the seller's ID against the title before any money changes hands, and never wire funds before seeing the vehicle in person.

A 16+ year-old Jeep Cherokee is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.

Op 'n midder lys in' n mid-gesauste mark soos Lima, Lima, verwag 'n 4-8% onderhandelings venster. Verkoopaars het hier minder mededingende lyste om te anker teen, so die lys se ouderdom en jou gereedheid (kas in hand, finansiering voor-gekeurde) dra meer gewig as aggressiewe priserende vergelykings.

If the seller still owes a bank or finance company against this Jeep Cherokee, the title has a lien recorded. Do NOT hand over funds before the lien is released. Standard practice in Peru: buyer's bank pays the lender directly for the loan balance and pays the seller for the remainder, with the lender's release letter arriving alongside the new title. Verify the lien status through whatever public registry Peru uses (DMV / DETRAN / Registro Civil / etc.) before agreeing to a purchase price.
