Frequently asked questions

This 2014 Ford Escape is 8-15 years old — value-priced daily-driver territory. Mechanical condition matters far more than cosmetics at this age. Ask for the most recent timing-belt/chain interval, suspension work, and any major repairs. A documented one-owner Escape in this range is a stronger buy than a higher-trim with unknown history.

This listing is above the typical mileage band for a 2014 Ford — most Escapes of this age sit around 15-20k km/year. High-mileage doesn't disqualify the Escape but does mean major service items (timing components, suspension, clutch on manuals) are likely due. Price should reflect that.

Dakar, Dakar is a smaller market — comparable Ford Escape listings are scarce, so this suv can carry a small premium for buyers who can't find local alternatives. Be transparent about condition; buyers who travel for a listing typically expect what they see in the photos.

Insurance in Senegal is a private-carrier market. For a premium-tier Ford Escape in Dakar, expect 4-8% of the market value per year for full coverage. The biggest cost-driver is the city — Dakar rates can be meaningfully higher than rural Dakar for the same Ford.

This is a private-seller listing. For a premium-tier purchase like this Ford Escape, the buyer usually pre-arranges financing with their own bank or credit union — get pre-approval before contacting the seller. The seller will typically wait for funds to clear before signing over the title.

In Dakar, Senegal, you'll need the original title signed over by the seller, a bill of sale, a current emissions / safety inspection where required by Dakar, a VIN-match verification, and proof of insurance to take possession. The state DMV or motor-vehicle agency processes the transfer; many do it the same day.

Resale on a higher-kilometer Ford Escape tracks lower than the model-year average. From here, expect the value curve to be set by the next 1-2 major service items more than by calendar depreciation — a fresh timing belt, a fresh clutch, a recent tire set are the prose levers that hold value at trade-in time.

If the seller still owes a bank or finance company against this Ford Escape, the title has a lien recorded. Do NOT hand over funds before the lien is released. Standard practice in Senegal: buyer's bank pays the lender directly for the loan balance and pays the seller for the remainder, with the lender's release letter arriving alongside the new title. Verify the lien status through whatever public registry Senegal uses (DMV / DETRAN / Registro Civil / etc.) before agreeing to a purchase price.
