beskrivelse
This car stops traffic. It seems that this color appeals to everyone, young and old. It’s reliable and starts right up. It runs strong and steady and cruises nicely at highway speeds. And it stops on a dime. The a/c blows cold and the stereo jams loud and tight. The modern upgrades (power steering, power brakes, power windows, a/c, tilt wheel, etc.) make it easy and comfortable to drive.
More than a restomod, this Mustang is a custom build from the frame up. It started as a genuine 1965 Mustang GT, although the entire chassis and most of the body panels are new.
I bought the car in March 2008 from the builder shortly after he finished it. Then it had only 200 miles on it. Today it has 3100. Although it hasn’t been driven much, it has received a lot of attention over the years. Right after I bought it, I upgraded to a high quality, high stall torque converter and SFI rated damper and flexplate. Three of four years back I added 4-wheel Wilwood disk brakes. Shortly after, I added a Mallory high performance fuel pump and pressure regulator. A year later I added a hydroboost power brake booster, power windows and sequential LED tail lights. Two years ago I had the entire interior redone at a cost of almost $10k, including all the components for the sound system. More recently, I added upper and lower billet grills and bullet style mirrors to complete the look.
This Mustang needs nothing and is ready to cruise.
Here’s how she sits today:
EXTERIOR
- The car is painted House of Kolors candy “Sunset” with a soft gold flake overlay and clear coat. There are a few scratches (mostly in the door jambs), but the paint is generally in excellent condition.
- The bright work is in good to excellent condition, as much of it was new during the build.
- The wheels are “Outlaw” by Billet Specialties. The tires are Nitto 555 Extreme, 225/40 front and 285/40 rear.
- The headlights are tri-bar halogens and the tail lights are LED sequential.
- Bullet style mirrors are on both doors.
- Upper and lower billet grills adorn the front end.
INTERIOR
- Completely custom and in excellent condition.
- High grade marine vinyl used to cover most surfaces with contrast double stitching on door panels, seats, console, dash pad, and rear compartment. The door panels are one-off with Billet Specialties hardware. The seats have been redone with diamond-stitched orange leather inserts. The diamond pattern is carried through to the custom floor mats, which are made from matching orange vinyl for durability. The custom center console is fabricated from steel. The interior flows seamlessly through to the trunk.
