Kia Sorento • 2004 • 28,000 km • $ 6500 USD

This 2004 Kia Sorento is 16+ years old, which moves it into project / collectible / hand-me-down territory. Pricing in this band has more to do with condition and rarity than age. Inspect for rust, frame integrity, and electrical wear — none of which the 2004 fuel-economy spec sheet will warn you about.

This listing is below the typical mileage band for a 2004 Kia — most Sorentos of this age show closer to 15-20k km/year. Low mileage is a price-supporting attribute but verify the odometer hasn't been rolled back (check service records and inspection-station logs in Ecuador).

Chone, Manabi is a smaller market — comparable Kia Sorento listings are scarce, so this sedan can carry a small premium for buyers who can't find local alternatives. Be transparent about condition; buyers who travel for a listing typically expect what they see in the photos.

For an older Kia Sorento like this one, prioritize: timing belt/chain interval (ask for the last replacement receipt), suspension bushings and shocks, brake-fluid condition, transmission service history, and rust on the rocker panels and subframe. A pre-purchase inspection at an independent shop pays for itself many times over at this age.

Ecuador requires SOAT (or its local equivalent) — basic third-party liability included with annual registration. For a mid-tier Kia Sorento, full-coverage private insurance on top usually runs 3-7% of the vehicle's market value per year. Quote with two or three carriers before listing day; rates vary widely by Manabi.

Gasoline is relatively cheap in Ecuador, so monthly fuel cost on this Sorento is rarely the headline expense. Other line items — insurance, registration renewal, tires — usually outweigh it.

This is a private-seller listing. For a mid-tier purchase like this Kia Sorento, the buyer usually pre-arranges financing with their own bank or credit union — get pre-approval before contacting the seller. The seller will typically wait for funds to clear before signing over the title.

In Manabi, Ecuador, you'll need the local title-equivalent paperwork, the seller's ID, and proof of any annual road-tax or circulation-permit payment. Verify the exact requirements with Manabi's transit authority before listing day — they vary by province / state.

A 16+ year-old Kia Sorento is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.

On a mid-tier listing in a smaller market like Chone, Manabi, sellers often hold firmer on price because comparable Kia Sorentos are scarce. Lead with your timing (ready-to-buy) and your willingness to handle transfer paperwork — a frictionless transaction is sometimes worth a few percent to the seller.
