Insurance in Panama is a private-carrier market. For a mid-tier Nissan Pathfinder in Panama, expect 4-8% of the market value per year for full coverage. The biggest cost-driver is the city — Tocumen rates can be meaningfully higher than rural Panama for the same Nissan.

A 16+ year-old Nissan Pathfinder is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.

On a mid-tier listing in a smaller market like Tocumen, Panama, sellers often hold firmer on price because comparable Nissan Pathfinders are scarce. Lead with your timing (ready-to-buy) and your willingness to handle transfer paperwork — a frictionless transaction is sometimes worth a few percent to the seller.

If the seller still owes a bank or finance company against this Nissan Pathfinder, the title has a lien recorded. Do NOT hand over funds before the lien is released. Standard practice in Panama: buyer's bank pays the lender directly for the loan balance and pays the seller for the remainder, with the lender's release letter arriving alongside the new title. Verify the lien status through whatever public registry Panama uses (DMV / DETRAN / Registro Civil / etc.) before agreeing to a purchase price.
