Frequently asked questions

This 2008 Mazda CX-9 is 16+ years old, which moves it into project / collectible / hand-me-down territory. Pricing in this band has more to do with condition and rarity than age. Inspect for rust, frame integrity, and electrical wear — none of which the 2008 fuel-economy spec sheet will warn you about.

This listing is below the typical mileage band for a 2008 Mazda — most CX-9s of this age show closer to 15-20k km/year. Low mileage is a price-supporting attribute but verify the odometer hasn't been rolled back (check service records and inspection-station logs in Costa Rica).

Heredia, Heredia is a smaller market — comparable Mazda CX-9 listings are scarce, so this suv can carry a small premium for buyers who can't find local alternatives. Be transparent about condition; buyers who travel for a listing typically expect what they see in the photos.

Costa Rica requires SOAT (or its local equivalent) — basic third-party liability included with annual registration. For a premium-tier Mazda CX-9, full-coverage private insurance on top usually runs 3-7% of the vehicle's market value per year. Quote with two or three carriers before listing day; rates vary widely by Heredia.

This is a private-seller listing. For a premium-tier purchase like this Mazda CX-9, the buyer usually pre-arranges financing with their own bank or credit union — get pre-approval before contacting the seller. The seller will typically wait for funds to clear before signing over the title.

In Heredia, Costa Rica, you'll need the original title signed over by the seller, a bill of sale, a current emissions / safety inspection where required by Heredia, a VIN-match verification, and proof of insurance to take possession. The state DMV or motor-vehicle agency processes the transfer; many do it the same day.

A 16+ year-old Mazda CX-9 is past its depreciation trough — pricing from here is condition-driven, not age-driven. Documented examples of desirable trims can appreciate; rough examples stay flat or depreciate as parts availability tightens. Set the price by recent comparable sold prices, not by asking prices.

If the seller still owes a bank or finance company against this Mazda CX-9, the title has a lien recorded. Do NOT hand over funds before the lien is released. Standard practice in Costa Rica: buyer's bank pays the lender directly for the loan balance and pays the seller for the remainder, with the lender's release letter arriving alongside the new title. Verify the lien status through whatever public registry Costa Rica uses (DMV / DETRAN / Registro Civil / etc.) before agreeing to a purchase price.
